Moved

After a couple shitty days packing, moving, unpacking, cleaning, I believe we’re through to the other side. My Dad came down to help with his truck thankfully. I just love that guy, best man in the world. Hannah has been a rockstar during the move and helped unpack a lot of my stuff too. So we’re on day…..#6 in our new place. The new bbq is amazing (thank you Mom and Dad) and it’s a nice step up from my old one. We still need a few things like some shelves or something, a non-white trash kitchen table, and wireless internet. In time though..

Zero training Sunday,Monday, but I did get in a 30min spin on Tuesday. The physical/mental stress left me pretty worn out and only enough energy to drink beer and lay on the couch. FYI, Bud Light with lime tastes so-so but goes down quickly. It appears we get OLN at the moment which is perfect as the TdF started today. Curious to see how it pans out with the Astana fiasco, Contador preparing to leave, doping, etc. I predict….4 cases before the race reaches Paris. Was looking at Garmin-Slipstreams roster for the TdF, and can you say TT gods? It’s like an all-star team but will see how they hold up the mountains.

I’m back into camp mode now with work which sucks for training, but good for the bank account. Am slowing getting back into my routine now and Jarius and myself put in a good effort today with a morning swim, then 3.5hrs on the bike, followed by a brick with some km intervals. Good way to spend a Saturday if you ask me. Topped it off with a beer and bbq. Vancouver is…7 days away so we’ll see how that goes. Still gotta figure out a place to stay. Hint, hint Vince… :D Not sure where my fitness is at after New Balance, but I still feel strong and had a great recovery.

On a topic that would make my mother leap with joy, aka books, I’m reading a book called “Breakthrough Triathlon Training” by Brad Kearns and I must say, it’s not the usual self-help/don’t jump type of triathlon that is the local library, but he talks about the stress associated with training and life. I recommend this book to everyone, especially those who are a headcase.

Enough lounging around for the morning, time to get rolling.

If your stuck on somewhere to stay I can offer up some floor space (About 3km from race start. Don't have a spare room but could set you up in the den.
